Moments

Every day there is a moment
In the middle of a simple task
Like slicing limes
Or putting on socks

Every day this moment
Sneaks up, unbidden
and unasked for
Just a moment.

Every day a little thought
A light twinge in the chest
A faraway look in the eye
A small, secret smile

Every day a little memory
Of a chuckle, a laugh
A twinkle in the eye
The feeling of interlaced fingers
And the heaviness of tangled limbs

Every day a little moment
A little capitulation
A small surrender
A second of time to
Admit that I love you.
